Here at Southside Chem-Dry we know that dogs can be the perfect companion, but their hair can be a nuisance. No one likes hairy carpet, but removing it can be difficult. We have been servicing the Virginia Beach area since 2005, and over the years we have been able to pick up a few tricks and we would like to share them with you! Although there is no one perfect way to remove pet hair from your carpet and upholstery, we have a few methods that may prove fruitful!

Try Using Baking Soda

Using baking soda is an extremely effective way to remove unwanted dog hair from your carpet and furniture. If you don’t have any on hand, your first set is to gather some baking soda and your vacuum. Apply the baking soda liberally to the target area of your couch or carpet and allow it to sit for a few minutes. After that, all you need to do is vacuum the area thoroughly. One great thing about baking soda is that it will also leave your house smelling great!

Clean Up Dog Hair with Fabric Softener

Treating excess dog hair from your carpet or upholstery doesn’t have to cost you a thing. The fabric softener method, only takes some creativity and a little bit of time for this perfect do-it-yourself remedy to make a mark! For this DIY, you’ll need a spray bottle, fabric softener, water and a vacuum. Start by mixing three parts water to one part fabric softener and pour into a spray bottle. Without spraying too much onto your carpet, spray solution by lightly misting the affected area of your carpet. Let it stand for a few minutes and vacuum it up!

Use a Sponge Mop or Squeegee

This method is meant for more difficult areas. It is easy for stubborn hair to have become deeply embedded in your carpet’s fibers. By using a rubber squeegee or mop you can brush away those troubled areas that contain your dog’s hair and fur.
